Dr. Anna M. King, PhD, LCSW, PMH-C (she/her), is a licensed clinical social worker, certified perinatal mental health specialist, qualitative research psychologist, and educator with 15 years of experience across perinatal mental health, maternal healthcare, research, higher education, and systems transformation. Her work integrates embodiment, social justice, and relational practice, with a particular focus on centering lived experience as a meaningful source of data for shaping sustainable systems change.

Dr. King has served in nonprofit leadership roles focused on maternal health and perinatal mental health systems change, cross-sector collaboration, and policy development. As a trainer and educator, she has developed and facilitated more than 80 professional trainings and curated multiple conferences for healthcare providers, mental health clinicians, and birth workers, strengthening workforce development and clinical capacity. Her facilitation style emphasizes reflective and embodied learning, encouraging participants to engage clinical material alongside their own lived experience and relational awareness to transform care and promote provider well-being.

Dr. King currently serves as an embodied qualitative researcher and co-investigator on a study examining the impact of resilience skills training for CenteringPregnancy healthcare providers, with the goal of improving perinatal healthcare quality while addressing provider burnout and vicarious trauma. Her scholarly interests include practitioner embodiment, relational presence, reflective practice, and systems-aware approaches to perinatal workforce sustainability.

As a university educator, Dr. King has taught courses including Spiritual Activism and Social Transformation and Embodied Social Justice, and currently serves as an adjunct professor in a Marriage and Family Therapy program. For the past decade, she has mentored and supervised clinicians in micro and macro practice, supporting the development of professional identity, reflective practice, and engagement with liberatory frameworks.

In addition to her academic and research work, Dr. King has completed training in trauma-informed yoga, EMDR, and Somatic Experiencing® and maintains a private psychotherapy practice specializing in perinatal mental health, fertility, and sensory processing sensitivity (SPS). Across her clinical, academic, and systems change work, she remains grounded in the belief that personal healing, embodiment, and structural transformation are deeply interconnected.
